Volunteer Williamsfield Firefighter Pleads Guilty To Arson – News – Journal Star – Peoria, Il

Blake T. Walsh, 24, was arrested April 16 after witnesses reportedly saw him in the area of a trash bin fire behind The Shoe Department, 2779 Volunteer Drive. After an investigation by the Knox County Sheriffs Office and Galesburg and Willimasfield fire departments, Walsh was accused of setting fire to more than 20 hay bales between November and April. Walsh pleaded guilty to three counts of arson with all other charges, including multiple counts of criminal damage to property, local women to be dropped during sentencing. Walsh could see a maximum of seven years in prison for the arsons. Judge Scott Shipplett more info asked the prosecution if a triggering incident set Walsh, who had no noteworthy priors, on a rash of arson. No specifics were mentioned, but assistant states attorney Elisa Tanner said an event had set the fires into motion. Shipplett ordered a mental health evaluation of Walsh before his next court appearance Sept.
